✓Note that Desjardins Employer Solutions cannot complete the RL-1 Summary for you, Revenu Québec (RQ) requires employers to complete and sign this form themselves. To this end, Revenu Québec now accepts electronic signatures for the RL-1 Summary. Besides, some of the required data in regards to your company is not available in our systems.

✓Deadline: Revenu Québec must receive the summary in their office by the last day of February (postal* or electronic).
*The government’s office must have received the summary no later than the last day of February.  

✓As a reminder, the payroll application sends the federal summary directly to Canada Revenue Agency together with your tax slips.

Information to stay compliant

▪Fill out and transmit the RL-1 Summary – Summary of Source Deductions and Employer Contributions (form RLZ-1.S-V) to Revenu Québec.

–If applicable, fill out and transmit the Employer’s Statement of Tips and Tippable Sales (TP-1086.R.1) with your statement.

▪Remit your Contribution related to labour standards (CNT) if the payroll service has not done so on your behalf. hmtoggle_plus1 Click here for detailed information about the CNT

 

If we remit your contribution: The CNT remittance will be debited from your bank account at the last payroll of the year and the debit will be separate from the payroll debit.

Important: Thus, when completing the RL-1 Summary – Summary of Source Deductions and Employer Contributions (form RLZ-1.S-V), you have to indicate 0 if the amount is identical to the amount debited, otherwise indicate the difference to be paid in box 93 of the payment slip (see the information under the section “Contribution for the financing of the Commission des normes du travail (CNT)” on page 2 of the RLZ-1.S-V form).  

If we do not remit your contribution: You have to make your payment using the RL-1 Summary – Summary of Source Deductions and Employer Contributions (form RLZ-1.S-V).

To help you calculate your contribution to the CNT, we have provided the CNT – SPD636 report.

–Deadline: Before March 15th.

▪Fill out and transmit the SST-WCB statement of your province or territory (SST/WCB).

–Deadlines:

British Columbia: If the remittance frequency is annual: The deadline is determined by the Workers Compensation Board of British Columbia. The possible dates are March 3, 5, 7, 9, or 11. If the remittance frequency is quarterly: The deadline is February 28th.

Ontario: Deadlines are relative to the remittance frequencies.  

Monthly: March 31st

Annual: April 30th  

Quarterly: April 30th, July 31st, October 31st   and January 31st.  

Nova Scotia: No deadline and no obligation to produce an annual return. However, if you still need to declare a change at year-end, you must notify the Workers Compensation Board of Nova Scotia and make the necessary adjustments using the “Employer Year-end Update Form”, which you receive annually.

Other provinces: the last day of February

▪British Columbia only: Fill out the electronic Employer Health Tax (EHT) Annual Return form eTaxBC.

–Deadline: March 31st

▪Manitoba only: Fill out and transmit the Health and Education Tax Levy Annual Report Return form.

–Deadline: March 31st

▪Ontario only: Fill out and transmit the Employer Health Tax (EHT) Annual Return form.

–Deadline: March 15th
